About Us
Hey, we are Ben and Karen Sargent. Thank you for your interest in our story and ministry!
We want to share with you how Onward for Christ got started and what our vision for the future is.
In 2014 Ben had the privilege of attending the North Carolina Shindig by friends Mike and Debi Pearl with No Greater Joy from TN. The theme for this meeting of 2,500 believers was Worldwide Missions. During this event we met Joshua Steele who is a full time missionary to Ukraine and the President of Euro Team Outreach.
Challenged by God to help share the gospel abroad, Ben went on his first overseas mission trip the following year at 55 years old. Though a soulwinner from the age of twenty, going to a foreign country and seeing what God had done through regular guys rocked his world. He realized that it doesn't take special guys to impact the world, just regular guys. And you don't need to be called - you just need to GO!
In Ukraine every year, Joshua and his teammate Nathan Day train young men (regular guys!) in personal evangelism, the impact of literature campaigns, street ministry and village outreach.
In this way Ukraine is evangelized and the guys are trained and challenged to impact their own communities and seek the Lord about going to the foreign field full-time.
Onward for Christ is an extension of the vision Joshua had as a teenager to lead teams to overseas projects and return home. Little did he know that God would have him home-based in Ukraine and meet an old guy (Ben) to lead the teams he'd envisioned as a teenager. We have joined with Josh and Nathan in prayer and preparation to reach the USA by establishing teams using the biblical model of “by two and two" (Mk 6:7) throughout the country, in each state, that will faithfully evangelize their communities. Additionally, efforts for short-term missions abroad are in the works for the near future.
